Long-QT Syndrome Stories
Jon N.
Mettler, Webpublisher:
Jon was
born on March 27th 1974 in the city of
Biel-Bienne,
Switzerland (Europe). In his teenage years, in the winter of 1991, he was
confronted to long-QT syndrome for the first time. After having passed
unconscious three times in a ski camp, Jon was brought to the hospital of
Chur (Switzerland) where a cardiac arrest occurred. After this dramatic event, he had to do a couple of tests till the diagnosis was brought to him: The doctors told him that he was suffering from long-QT syndrome (LQTS).
Jon quickly had to experience that LQTS is little known in Europe. Looking for further information about LQTS, he soon ran into limits.
That is the reason why in 1997 Jon started the internet project 'European Long QT Syndrome Information Center' (now QTsyndrome.ch), teamed by two friends of his (both are not affected by LQTS) and his youngest brother. The goals of QTsyndrome.ch are to collect and provide actual information about the disease.
Jon is an editor in economy and working for the 'Berner Zeitung', one of Switzerland's biggest national newspapers.
