What is the difference between beta blockers vs. calcium channel blockers or ace inhibitors? I have always been on a beta blockers for my LQT. Just recently my doctor switched me to a calcium channel blocker and an ace inhibitor to help with mild hypertension. Will these drugs be as effective as beta blockers to control the symptoms of LQT? I'm under a new cardiologist and am beginning to question his choice of treatemt especially since I have always been on beta blockers.

There is no documentation that calcium channel blockers help in LQTS. It can not be excluded that it could have a beneficial effect, but there is no evidence.

I would recommend that you contact you cardiologist again and discuss the matter with him. If it for sure that you have LQTS and have no problems with betablockers, it is normally preferred. If it is a blood pressure problem there is no problem to add a calcium channel blocker to the beta blocker
