My EP showed me an ICD about the size of a deck of cards. I've read that some are around 1" x 2" (2.5 cm x 5 cm). Am I being offered an older model or is this in fact the average size today?

it depends of the manufacturer. A size of a deck of cards seems to be a litte bit bigger than normal.

Hi My name is Manju and I have a question regarding ICD. My husband has an ICD implant for Long QT syndrome, and I have a doubt whether there is a possibility for ICD to move and change position inside the body or exactly how it is placed inside the body. May be very premature to ask this question, but its all new yo us and we are going thru lots of anxiety. It would be great if you can answer this for me.Thanks a lot

Manju, go to the following site. It is very well explained and has very good graphics to help you understand defibrillators.
http://www.heartcenteronline.com/ICD.html

You may have to register to access it, but it is free and really worth it.
I have have 3 ICDs and none of them ever moved. However I have heard of cases where the device had shifted, but it is very rare. If you have any problem you should consult your doctor to have him check it out.
Your anxiety is very normal, but soon your husband will realize that it is like an insurance: he will be safe if anything happens.
Best wishes.

I had an I.C.D fitted last september and i thought that you wouldnt see the box when fitted but mine you can its worse when i lift my arm up the corner of the I.C.D sticks out pretty bad. Also i am only 23 and i hate it wearing tops where you can see it! i do feel a bit embarrassed because it is a bit noticable also you can see the scar! But at the end of the day if that is the price for being alive well then thats fair enough!
