In case of cardiac arrest is there allways VT before Vfib. Can the ICD distinguish between VT and Vfib or is it based on the rate/beats

There is not always VT before Vfib

The ICD distinguish between VT and Vfib based on rate.

It has two zones a vtach zone and a vfib zone.
Depending of the model many icds would try to pace in the vtach zone to supress the VT, whereas it would shock in the vfib zone.

A fast vtach would normally be taken as a vfib by the ICD and given a shock, which also seems appropiate
